Happy St David’s Day

If you are seeking to buy a traditional costume from us please message us for availability

Happy St Davids Day or Dydd Gŵyl Dewi Hapus from Sugar and Spice. St David is the patron saint of Wales and today is a celebration of Welshness, for which Sugar and Spice is a passionate supporter. St David’s Day traditions include eating Welsh food (yummy Welsh cakes for instance), Eisteddfords in school (a day of competitions in poetry, arts and crafts) and children dressing up in traditional outfits, which we sell every year to the proud parents of Pontypridd and other local school children.

A few days ago, in honour of St David’s Day and as part of our 30th birthday celebrations, we held a Welsh themed craft workshop and invited children to make some crafty pals using recycled materials and craft supplies available in our shop. It was a pleasure to help them with their creations.

How have you been celebrating St David’s Day? Let us know and send us some pictures in your Welsh get up. We love to share photos of our little customers dressed in their ‘Welsh Lady costumes’, handsome waistcoats or Welsh rugby tops. For future crafting events or other activities in Pontypridd follow us on social media. We love hosting exciting events in our toy shop.
